We are looking for a Director of Nursing who is passionate about providing exceptional care to our patients and committed to helping us grow our Surgery Center. The person in this role will work out of our Alpharetta Outpatient Surgery Center and providing oversight for the clinical staff supporting in-office procedures done in our College Park office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center including clinical, professional, and business to ensure financial success while providing patients with optimal surgical experiences.
  • Approaches operation of the Surgery Center with the concept that the clients of the Surgery Center are the patients, their families, physicians, and the employees.
  • Assures that the Surgery Center operates in accordance with all local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws applicable to GA, including but not limited to AAAHC accreditation, Medicare Conditions of Coverage, state licensure and/or Certificate of Need regulations, Patient Privacy Act of 1996, Fraud and Abuse Act, OIG Compliance, Patient Safety Act, American Disabilities Act, and HIPAA.
  • Works toward achieving mission, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center.
  • Acts as a liaison with medical staff and Governing Body to develop working relationships, and provides reports, information, recommendations, and evaluations regarding the Surgery Center with the concurrence of management company.
  • Works directly with and correlates management responsibilities as appropriate with the CEO.
  • Directly or indirectly assures development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures including but not limited to benefit selection, employment and termination, orientation, and appraisals, taking into consideration all pertinent local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Directly approves payroll and authorizes check issuance.
  • Directly or indirectly provides supervision of all employees in accordance with Surgery Center policies and procedures.
  • Provides or approves all employment offers, appraisals, and termination of employees.
  • Provides input into the training and education needs of the personnel.
  • Directly or indirectly provides for development and implementation of Surgery Center policy and procedures addressing clinical and business operations as well as annual review and revision and/or addition/deletion as necessary.
  • Directly or indirectly provides for purchase of and payment for all materials, office supplies and equipment, medical equipment, medical disposable and non-disposable supplies and capital expenditures.
  • Directly approves invoices with supporting documents for check issue.
  • Directly or indirectly provides for inventory control and cost accountability for in-house inventory and utilize information for management planning, cost projections, and budget preparation.
  • Reviews case cost information semi-annually to ensure accuracy and optimize cost saving.
  • Ensures, either directly or indirectly, that all physicians and personnel comply with all Surgery Center policies and procedures.
  • Directly or indirectly negotiates vendor contracts, with the assistance of Management.
  • Annually reviews all contracts/agreements and reports to management company/Governing Body including recommendations for revisions/cancellations.
  • In conjunction with the Medical Director, CEO, the Business Office Manager, and other personnel, develop monitors to evaluate the outside services provided to the Surgery Center.
  • In conjunction with the CEO, annually develops capital budget for presentation to the Governing Body.
  • Directly or indirectly provides for safety of all employees and patients within the Surgery Center, including but not limited to regular maintenance of equipment, performing consistent safety inspections of the facility, routine scheduled Biomed inspections of electrical equipment, in house emergency care equipment that is adequate for case type and patient population, appropriate emergency generator and established reporting mechanisms for safety concerns and/or occurrences.
  • Development and implementation of a Continued Quality Assurance Plan (PI/QA) that includes but is not limited to Peer Review, Quality Assurance and Risk Management.
  • Ensures orientation to and ongoing involvement of all personnel.
  • Coordinates Medical Staff credentialing and privileging activities including Allied Health.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the operation of the Surgery Center and coordination between the Governing Body, Medical Staff, and management company.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Georgia RN license in good standing or Multi-state compact license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of surgical experience in ortho, spine and/or pain management.
  • Prior experience in a management role, including supervisory experience, preferably in an ambulatory surgery setting (minimum 3 – 5 years). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • BCLS and ACLS Certified or willing to become certified within three (3) months of employment.
  • Ability to apply education, experience, logic and common sense to the daily operations of the Surgery Center.
  • Prior experience with fiscal responsibility, preferably in a for-profit setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures, medical records, financial reports and laws, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete and non-concrete variables in standardized and/or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to respond immediately to a given situation and/or issue while seeking additional information and/or knowledge to enhance a foundation for growth and development.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism with the understanding that multi-tasking requires multiple variations of response to any given situation.
